shows i've watched

here are some of the shows i've watched. i still don't know if i am including just my favs or just updating whenever i finish a new show. there will definitely be spoilers in here so just a heads up if you haven't watched some of these yet. enjoy!

  • bojack horseman

    Bojack Horseman

    Rating:9.5/10

i loved the one f-bomb per season rule to represent when bojack really screwed up. it added so much emotional depth to those moments and made me feel like my heart was dropping for bojack. the show really focuses on the human tendency to distract oneself from problems and their purpose in life. the show explores difficult themes well and displays the destructive effects of fame and addiction. each charavter is complex in their own way and are fighting different battles that highlight struggles that could be relatable to the audience.

  • Attack on Titan

    Attack on Titan

    Rating:8/10

  • Vinland Saga

    Vinland Saga

    Rating:9.5/10

Vinland Saga really showed the complexities of the world but ts was lowk gutwrenching because the world just failed them all. I loved how it showed the motives of other characters, not just thorfinn, demonstrating how everyone has many layers and stories that shape them. thorfinn, canute, askeladd, and gardar's actions aren't being justified, but is shown to explain that this is their response to the brutality of an unjust system. No one is purely evil or good, and that is directly shown when thorfinn must defend gardar from snake, and thorfinn recognizes that both him and snake have just reasons in their fight. war is glorified in s1 due to the focus on vikings and their way of living, but s2 shifts to the remnants of war; slavery, guilt, grief and morality. It pushes out the anti-war message through emotions and story rather than saying it outright. Despite thorfinn's growth, arnheid's death felt like a punch to the face as she ended up dying as ketil's property. It really displays how the powerful seem to prevail whether it is in status or physical power and how easy it is to get trapped into a system of oppression. Despite ketil showing mercy in the end, the effects were irreversible just as war and the system's effects are. Overall, Vinland Saga is absolute peak and is not just an action anime as it explores complex themes and the human condition. The slower pace in s2 tends to put people off but it's worth the watch.

  • Ouran High School Host Club

    Ouran High School Host Club

    Rating:7.5/10

i never throught it was extremely funny but it was still entertaining and something i'd come back to often. mori was my favorite but i felt tamaki was always the obvious choice for haruhi. i liked how they mocked generic tropes through the host club and each member fitting the cliches. it was upsetting to hear that they wouldn't continue to adapt the manga and i never brought myself to read it.

  • Friends

    Friends

    Rating:10/10

literally my favorite show ever. i would binge this at home, at school, during a drive, everywhere.

  • The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

The Disastrous Life of Saiki K.

    Rating:10/10

i love this anime sooo much. its so absurd how saiki just wishes to be someone average when that is literally impossible for him due to his psychic powers. the person he chooses to admire is the epitome of average which is hilarious. his powers itself can be comedic because of how stupid some of them are. the dub on this show is so good that i actually put off watching season 3 because they only had sub. the fast talking and pace adds to the chaos and comedy so much. the show doesn't seem to have a continuous plot so its easy to watch. whenever i'm bored i just put on a randsom episode because the previous ep wouldn't provide much context. at first, saiki seems to get annoyed and sees his friends as obstacles as he tries to navigate his life without being noticed but i love the relationships and the growth he experiences as the show progresses. it isn't a drastic change as he still is sarcastic and deadpan but you can tell he grows fond of them. such a good comedy and definitely a must watch if you need a laugh.
